Fall Creek Falls State Park
This scenic 16,000+ acre mountain park is the perfect place to spend a day
or several days and has been voted by readers of Southern
Living magazine rate it as best state park in the Southeastern
United States. The 256 foot Fall Creek Falls are the
highest waterfall in the eastern United States and are magnificent
to watch as they tumble to the water below. Other falls
include Piney and Cane Creek Falls and Cane Creek Cascades.
While
at the park you can enjoy water activities like fishing
or boating in 345-acre Fall Creek Falls Lake, or go swimming
Olympic-sized pool with a wading pool. There are 5 covered
pavilions which can accommodate up to 75 people and 12 picnic
areas with charcoal grills and water spigots, along with
a restaurant and a snack bar. Whether you are looking for
rest, relaxation or recreation Fall Creek Falls State Park
has just what you need. There are four playgrounds, 3 miles
of bicycle trails, golfing, a nature center and an amphitheatre.
For the more adventurous, there are over 34 miles of hiking
trails around the park including two long distance overnight
trails or you can go horseback riding on the guided trail
rides.
Park accommodations include 228 campsites in three different areas, two group camps that can accommodate 100 and 150 campers, two group rental lodges, rental cabins (20 two-bedroom, one-bath cabins and 10 three-bedroom, two bath villas, each furnished to sleep up to eight or ten people), and the Fall Creek Falls Inn which has a heated outdoor swimming pool, fitness room, and game room.
